You've probably heard this but chaos is the point.
So let's talk about chaos.
We live in a universe that contains both order and chaos. We live on a planet that has both order and chaos.
You may be surprised by this but nearly every indigenous religion has an origin story that is about the battle between chaos and order. The Greeks literally called one of their chaos God, Khaos. Physics talks about the hot, messy, pressure filled state prior to the Big Bang. (Yes, physics agrees with the Barenaked Ladies.)
Zoroastrianism is one of the oldest religions which still has followers. It's origin story describes Ahura Mazada, the supreme God of light, goodness, and order, who fights for good.
What about the Ancient Egyptians? They believed that Nu, chaos, fought Ra, the creator. Nu got his revenge on Ra every years when the Nile flooded. Yearly, Ra fought back the tides to restore order.
What about the Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Baha'i)?
Christianity: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1 or Genesis, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Judaism: "The word of God brought everything into being: heaven and earth, mountains and rivers, and every living thing. In the beginning, God called into existence the heaven and earth.
Islam: "Allah decided to create the universe. Allah, with unlimited power and authority, commanded things to come into being."
Baha'i: Overall, Baha'i accept the creation story of the Bible, Talmud, and Koran. Their only exception is that God is separate from his/her creation.
Overall, the Abrahamic faiths believe that, creation began with God, the creator, and the Beginning, chaos.
Here's my point: Chaos is an immensely powerful force. It comes for single thing on this planet. Everything. This is why chaos is unleashed when someone wishes to distract you from your life and their actions. Chaos is a force that can only be wielded by those who are willing to loose everything.
This is why chaos was released upon you. It's why you may be distracted from your work, struggling with focusing on the things you love, and having trouble creating.
What fights chaos? Order. Force yourself to create order in your life. Use this time to create beautiful order in your home and your creative activities. Badger your representatives to support order, not panic under chaos.
Order may not be perfect. In fact, our current order likely needs to change. But we can only improve if we have order. Chaos has never improved anything. It destroys the good and the bad.
Remember this ancient wisdom – Order comes from Chaos. The question is what we want this order to look like.
