At the desk, 10:19 a.m.
I don't know if it's true for most authors, but for me, when I'm writing, working, managing and creating books, that's all I do. I wake up at 5 am and work until 6:30 or so. I eat, live, breath, and sleep the books. Since I returned from Fort Worth in October, that's about all I did until mid-March.
When I finally submitted the Queen of Cool to the printer, I looked up and realized what a mess everything was. I was living and working around piles of paper and piles of stuff! Even the websites were a mess.
Slowly but surely, step by step, I've been updating and cleaning up everything thing. Websites, taxes, business conversations with partners, did I mention taxes? and...more websites, reviews and planning with contractors, book orders, and...
Yesterday was a day of clean up. I got up and went straight to the Post Office where I waited in line to pay my post office box fee (which was late). From there, it was one thing after another - batteries for the rechargeable lawn mower, new pillows for the bed, supplies for my fountain tip pens, returning library books, dropping shredding at the recycling bin, and on and on.
That's why I didn't get here to post. I was too busy running from place to place checking things off a very long list.
Some days are put your head down and get it done days. Some days are clean up days.
That's just how it is.
