Before you die?

This video is very short – 3 minutes.

I’ve heard every the excuses. I made a few myself.

Yet if there’s one thing I know for sure, there isn’t a tomorrow when things will be easier. We only have today.

What do you want to do before you die? What will it take to make it happen?

Happy Monday!

Not much OG...attorneys and insurance companies...the wheels are grinding s l o w l y. I think once all of the pain resolution gauntlet is run there will either be a settlement or a court date...but...I don't think about it much, that is a game I don't care for.

We talked of moving last night, and what to do with this house we are in and whether we are willing to sell it at the current depressed price and the old lady is almost there...willing to leave here no matter the cost or loss.

  • I've done so many things that I wanted to do before I die:

    - live in Japan
    - visit Scotland
    - see LOTR come to the big screen
    - have amazing friends
    - be in love
    - be in lust

and some things I really didn't know I wanted to do, but did them anyway:

    - visit Paris
    - enjoy being alone

What I wanted to do but haven't so far?

    - have a child (not in the cards, not even adoption)
    - visit Germany (possible!)
    - visit Australia (ditto)
    - visit New Zealand (ditto)
    - meet Johnny Depp
    - drive across the US
    - have my own home
  • TWM - How can I help?

Colleen - Hurray - I thought it might be a great TT.
  • This is great! I'm going to link to it. And then start my making my list.

OG I have some affairs that need resolution first. Once they are decided one way ort' other we will be free to do as we wish.

  • Dr. John - Never say never. I've heard of a lot stranger things happening.

Odat - Yes, I know you do. The hardest step for me is to take that knowledge and move forward. ((hug))

Grace - That sounds like a wonderful, and very achievable goal - how will you start?

Michael C - I want those things for you too. What's the first actionable step to make it happen? I know how looking at death changes us - for me? The question is how to take action.
  • I want to be published. I want to be able to sit on a beach with a laptop and write knowing that someone will want to read it. I want to get up and do something I love each and every day

I also want every moment with my kids and my wife to be their happiest memory.

I was prepared for death a few years ago before surgery and am in a much more peaceful places now because of it.
  • I want to be on a cruise - to tour around the world. Oh and basically, just find contentment in everything.
  • I want to be a rock star! (I can't sing tho nor play an instrument, maybe I could just lip sinc?)

Yes, I know all too well that we've only got today. What do I want to do before I die? Be happy. I'm one who believes that what you show to the world, the world will show it back to you.

    Thanks for the inspiration! ;-)

  • I want to visit Finland.
    It would take a miracle.
  • TWM - That sounds delicious. With internet access everywhere, why not move there sooner than later? What would it take to make that happen?

Slick - Hmmm.... probably not. You'd lose more than you'd gain.

Squirrelly - Oh (blushing) sorry. Boy, I would be happy to support you in those goals as they are both populations I feel strongly about. What's our next step?

CEO - Really? Wow. I'll look forward to your response.

    FuriousBall - Me too!

Sarah - Yeah, it's one of those things that we know we SHOULD think of but never take the time to do. How about today?
  • What a great thought. I've heard of this before...but never got around to really thinking about what my answer might be! I'll have to do that!
  • i want to see my kids lose that worry in their brows about their father

The Monday Morning Inspirational Post here makes me look forward to getting up Monday morning. And you keep getting better. I have to go study, and help make the world a better place.
  • It's late on Monday after a long hard day (and it isn't even over yet). I thought I would visit some blogs and chill and unwind the mind. Instead, I foolishly come here and find this incredibly thought provoking post.

First, let me say that I admire what those guys in the video are doing. I guess for me, I'd like to make a difference in at least one person's life. I have always been concerned for street children and women forced into prostitution. I have donated money to children's relief work and time to drug rehab and physical rehab. But I would really like to do some hands on work on street kids and prostitutes before I die. Thanks for reminding me that I got to get off my butt if I am goig to do these things.
  • Hhhmm...meet Jessica Alba at our local dingy hotel.

What do you want to do before you die? What will it take to make it happen?

OG I cut and pasted the above question and rather than a glib answer I just had to stare at the words and think. *shrug* I have no answer and that is pretty damn boring. But on the other hand memory comes flooding in and I can say I have thus far, had a pretty big life, bigger than anyone ever expected for me. Including myself.

there is one thing that comes to mind, move to the mountains of the East. Specifically a small place with not many people. All it would take to happen is will and winding down of all my affairs here. That is where I would like to be when I die, a new place, a new home somewhere in the Appalachian chain.

    Peace
