High Five Fridays: The Brave

I’ve wanted to do this for a while. This week, I saw a number of bloggers stretch out, speak their mind, and get slapped hard.

I want to give a High Five to the brave bloggers who speak their mind.

“You speak out all you feel is defiance.” – Nelly Furtado

High Five Fridays

Miss Britt spoke her mind about the sex offender list and was brutally slapped. High Five Britt for being brave enough to speak what is actually true!

Scott Abel wrote this piece comparing the extreme dieting done by body builders to a study done in the 1950s on starvation. A regular author at all the major magazines, no one will publish this article. There is a lot of talk about steroids but very little conversation about what drives people to take them. High Five Scott for speaking about a very dark side of the sport!

Daniel Miessler wrote an interesting piece entitled “What every American should know about the Middle East“. The response was… shocking. High Five Daniel for trying to educate on a difficult topic!

Jameil went out with friends and was brutally slapped by the next day! High Five Jameil for going out and living a little!

Vixen came out to her mother a couple weeks a go. She is just one brave gal going through a very challenging time. High Five Vixen for being honest with someone who loves you!

The purpose of this meme is to give high-fives to 5 people, posts, blogs and/or websites you’ve admired during the week. I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 5 high-fives on Friday. Trackbacks, pings, linky widgets, comment links accepted!

Visiting fellow High-Fivers is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your High-Fives in others comments (please note if NWS).

  • Very nice links. The Middle East one in particular was excellent. And while I only half agree with the sex offender post, the reaction of the play group was way way out there. Good post!
  • Thank you Claudia. You're prose rose me to a spiritual journey today. After reading your props to Scott Abel - I gave his page a look-see and learned a bit a zen off-ah him. woo!
  • Moobs - Would that be the "happy dosser" award? ;) I'm making weather here (my new favorite Brit-speak) can't you tell! Thanks for the shout out.

Nanna - Yes, more encouragers would be a very nice thing.
  • How lovely of you to nurture people for their courage and independent thinking.

Truly - the world needs more encouragers!
  • Claudia I am ging to have to invent an award and give it to you. You really are the most interesting blogger I know.
  • CEO - Ah shucks.

Kelly - Well that is what a mind is for. Yes?

Pop Tart - I was impressed with that as well - no judgment, just facts. Also his willingness to correct.

Secondhand Rose - dem haters - yes, smile in your face but all they want to do is bring you down....

Silent Porn Star - I think most people agree - the other voice is just extremely vocal.

Vixen - You deserve the applause!

Slip of a Girl - Nice to see you again. I'm stunned at the way people treat each other on line. They say things they would never ever say to someone in person. It's as if our tender hearts are somehow missing. Very sad.

    Kevin - Bravo indeed!
  • BRAVO to them.

and BRAVA to you for saying so!!
  • I think I 'met' you ages ago on a TT... But nice to see you again :)

I'm always astonished by the lack of tolerance, Internet or otherwise. What's wrong with people? You can disagree, but there's no reason to be rude. Kudos to you and those you high-fived. :)

I've got my high-fives up here and here (each is unique!)
  • On my, aren't you just the most wonderful person on the planet?!?!?! Thank you so much, you really made my day, week, month, quarter....Just THANKS.
  • I'm totally in agreement with Miss Britt -- and you for your high-fives!
  • What a lovely way to encourage, in spite of all the haters. (And nice to meet you!)

    PS My link is NWS.
  • What an excellent idea for a High-Five Friday! All moving & worthy of honors.

I'm most impressed with the Middle East post by Daniel for presenting facts, not rhetoric on a touchy subject, full of misinformation; it's worthy of passing around to most everyone I know.

    I'm up here and here.
  • I read the one by Missbritt, and was proud of her for writing that! I will def have to check out the rest!

I like people that speak their minds!!

That is why I like you! High five to you!!!
  • CEO
First, congrats to the Fab Five! Well done!!

Also, once again, thank you Claudia for your great insight, caring, and almost unique talents in finding ways to help the rest of us get through another day with a smile, feeling better. The internet is a mere tool that lets you extend your reach, thankfully. It's how I found you.
  • Christy - I saw your post and realized that I could have put Martin Luther King. It's one of the things I admire the most about him....

FuriousBall - I hope so. I think speaking our truth is very hard, scary. I admire when people do it - even when it's uncomfortable.
  • you know what's great about recognizing folks like this, it gives others courage to do the same. great idea.
  • Super cool high fives!!!
  • Jameil - You speak your mind every day. I couldn't pick one! lol! So I figured I'd just pick yesterday.
  • lol! i didn't expect to be on this list! esp. w/people who have such deep topics! wow! thanks for the honor claudia!
